Caterina Murino was born on 15 th September 1977, in Cagliari, Sardinia, Italy. She wanted to be a doctor, but switched career paths to pageantry after twice failing the medical school entrance exams.She came fourth in the 1996 Miss Italy contest. Having moved to London, she fell in love with theatre and acting, saving up weekly to watch something in the West End theatreIn.199 6 she reached the fourth place in the Miss Italy contest. Then she moved to Milan where she began working as a model in commercials for Mastercard, Swatch, Mercedes Benz, and Nescafe among other gigs.
